Delores A. Gunn Elected To Forest Park City Council

Councilwoman Delores A. Gunn

FOREST PARK, Ga. — March 31, 2025 — The City of Forest Park is pleased to welcome Councilwoman Delores A. Gunn as the newest member of the Forest Park governing body. Gunn, who was recently sworn-in on March 24 during a special ceremony held at the Forest Park Council Chambers, will officially represent the residents of Ward 2 in Clayton County's largest municipality.

A 10-year resident of the city, Gunn currently serves as the chief executive officer of The Gator8, a local nonprofit that focuses on expanding access to expungement and pardon resources in an effort to help ensure individuals have the opportunity for a second chance. As a strong advocate for individuals facing addiction, mental health challenges and reintegration barriers, Gunn also works for Sunrise Detox, one of Georgia’s leading medical detox centers that specializes in substance abuse recovery rehabilitation efforts.

"Public service is much more than just a calling. It is an exceptional way to address critical issues that impact the every day lives of individuals who live, work or even visit our incredible diverse community," said Gunn. "I am beyond grateful for the trust that voters have placed in me and eager to collaborate with my fellow councilmembers, city staff and residents as we work together to enhance constituent services, attract new businesses and revitalize neighborhoods for all those who call Forest Park home."

Along with serving on the Forest Park City Council, Gunn is board member of Men Facing and helps lead mentorship programs that equip young men with essential life skills –reinforcing her firm belief in the importance of social equity and economic empowerment. She is a licensed and ordained Evangelist, as well as an alumna of Restoration Theological Seminary and an active member of the Forest Park Ministers Association. Gunn holds a bachelor’s degree in pastoral counseling and is a certified counselor with the Georgia Board for Christian Counselors.

"Effective governance not only requires accountability, but also transparency, innovative solutions and compassion," said Gunn. "It is up to all of us – the governing body, city leadership, business leaders, educators, nonprofits and key stakeholder groups – to unite as we continue to lift Forest Park to even greater heights for generations to come."
