Forest Park Named One Of The Best Managed Cities In Georgia

FOREST PARK, Ga. — Jan. 29, 2025 — In another milestone achievement, the City of Forest Park proudly announced that it has been named one of the best managed cities in the State of Georgia by Business View Magazine, a popular source of news and information for executives, entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Selected by the publication's research team, senior producers and directors, the city was awarded the special recognition based on factors such as overall growth strategies, ingenuity, fiscal responsibility and best practices. With a population of nearly 20,000 residents, Forest Park is located roughly five miles from the world's busiest airport and contains easy access to I-75, I-285 and I-675, making it one of metro Atlanta's main transportation and logistic hubs.
"Before taking the helm as the city's highest-ranking elected official, both accountability and leadership at city hall were severely lacking, resulting in a profound loss of trust in local government by some of our citizens. However, since day one as mayor, I have made it my sole mission to carry out a bold progressive vision for Clayton County's largest municipality – one filled with a resurgence in residential growth, economic opportunities and employee-specific wellness initiatives that gives us the ability to offer the highest quality of customer service at every level," said Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA. "Being able to lead the historic progress we have seen over these past seven years only strengthens my resolve for making Forest Park a sought-after destination where families, business owners and visitors can thrive no matter their socio-economic status or background. Although there is still much work to be done, this special recognition goes to show that the governing body and my administration remain focused on doing what matters most, which is getting business done on behalf of our constituents."
Each month, Business View Magazine covers the latest developments in manufacturing, construction, workforce development and more. The magazine has over 877,000 subscribers and also covers the public sector, reporting on the latest advances in municipal public works projects, green initiatives and neighborhood sustainability programs.
"Nearly two years ago, I was entrusted with the honor of serving as city manager and set forth the vision for ONE Forest Park, anchored in the pillars of operational efficiency, neighborhood sustainability and economic development. What began as a blueprint has now transformed into a dynamic reality thanks to the unwavering dedication of our executive cabinet and the extraordinary efforts of our employees," said City Manager Ricky L. Clark, Jr. "From the completion of a groundbreaking operational performance audit, the introduction of key performance indicators and the implementation of a minimum wage increase, to achieving the first on-time audit in years, our accomplishments have been both impactful and far-reaching. Among these, we finalized plans for the long-awaited new Forest Park City Center and revitalized Starr Park, bringing to fruition projects that had been anticipated for years and signaling a new era of growth and opportunity for our community. This award stands as a powerful testament to what can be realized when vision is aligned with purpose and driven by intentional action. Together, we are building a legacy that will endure far beyond the present."
