Forest Park Police Respond To A Shooting Incident (3800 Block Of Jonesboro Road)

FOREST PARK, Ga. — Sept. 11, 2023 — Today, at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers with the Forest Park Police Department were called to respond to an accident with injuries. While en route, officers were flagged down regarding a person being armed near the 3800 block of Jonesboro Road.

After arriving on the scene, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, at which time the suspect began to discharge their weapon. Officers returned fire, eventually striking the suspect. Aid was immediately rendered to the suspect, who was then transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. One officer was transported to Southern Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Georgia Bureau of investigation has been contacted to handle the ongoing investigation. No additional information is being released at this time. Updates will be provided as they become available.
