Rental Assistance Funding Available For Forest Park Residents
Eligible Applicants Impacted By COVID-19 Can Receive Up To $2,500 Per Household
FOREST PARK, Ga. — Dec. 9, 2021 — City of Forest Park residents who are experiencing economic hardships and unable to pay rent due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are encouraged to apply for funding through the city's Fast Track Rental Assistance Program.
Administered by City Edge Projects Inc., the city is offering one-time payments of up to $2,500 per household. Funding through the program is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once approved, the payment will be made directly to the landlord or property management company only.
"Although we have seen signs of economic recovery over the past several months, we realize that there are still individuals who are facing financial burdens brought on by the pandemic," said City of Forest Park Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA. "This dedicated funding is designed to help support our residents who feel left behind while they work to get back on their feet."
Back in September, the city council approved to set aside $400,000 of the American Rescue Funds allotment to aid with rental assistance — specifically for residents of Forest Park. Applicants interested in receiving assistance must meet the following eligibility requirements, including, but not limited to:
- Proof of residency in the City of Forest Park (i.e. valid driver's license or state-issued ID showing city residency, current utility bill and a copy of a signed lease agreement).
- Proof of being negatively affected directly or indirectly by COVID-19.
- Proof of income and/or unemployment filing (if applicable).
- Proof of late rent or eviction notice from landlord or property management company (must state current full amount due with detailed breakdown of all charges dated within five days of submitting an application).
