Senior Swim Lessons
This is program is designed for beginner senior adults 55+ to learn to swim. Must be a member of the recreation center to register.* Participants are introduced to swimming with an instructor in group setting. Adults will learn water safety and familiarization, buoyancy and floatation, body position and rotation, underwater skills, stroke development including the skills below:
Learning Objectives:
Entering and exiting the pool
Learn hold their breath for at least 5 seconds while blowing bubbles.
B.O.B.S ( Blowing. Out. Below. Surface)
Learning proper ways to kick with/without kick boards and fins.
Treading water with/ without noddle
Supported Glide
Supported roll from front to back
What to bring:
Appropriate Swimsuit
Towel
Flip Flops
Goggles (optional)
Swim cap (optional)
*Memberships are available for seniors, regardless of residency. To sign up for a membership, please visit the Elaine Corley Recreation Center located on 803 Forest Parkway, Forest Park, GA 32097.

Important Class Information:
Withdrawals:
If you are not satisfied with the program, you may withdraw before the second class begins or before registration ends for athletic programs. If you elect to withdraw from a program before the second program meeting or before the registration end date, full credit will be applied to the household's CivicRec account for future use. Participants are unable to withdraw after the second program meeting or once registration has ended for athletic programs. Any credits issued must be used within the same fiscal year to avoid credit forfeiture.
Cancellations:
The Department of Recreation & Leisure Services may cancel a program due to low enrollment or other reasons at the Director's discretion. If a program or event is canceled for any reason, participants will have the option to receive full credit to the household's CivicRec account for future use or a full refund. Any credits must be used within the same fiscal year to avoid credit forfeiture.
Transfers:
Participants may transfer between programs, before the second-class meeting, on a space-available basis. There is no charge for transfers, but participants will be responsible for any additional program costs. If the new program costs less than the original program, the difference will be credited to the household's CivicRec account for future use. If the new program costs more than the original program, the participant will be responsible for covering the difference. Any credits must be used within the same fiscal year to avoid credit forfeiture.
Refunds:
For rare circumstances, refund requests can be made seven (7) full business days before the scheduled start of a program or event unless otherwise stipulated by the individual activity or by the City of Forest Park Recreation & Leisure Services Department. All refund requests are subject to the approval of the Director. Upon approval, a $5 service charge per class per individual will be deducted from the initial refund amount. For refunds less than $5, a credit to the household's CivicRec account will be offered. No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes. For refund requests, please send all written requests to RecreationLeisure@forestparkga.gov.
