City Approves Partnership For New Air Purifying Systems
FOREST PARK, Ga. — June 15, 2022 — In an effort to create safe indoor environments for residents, visitors and employees, the City of Forest Park approved a partnership with Timilon Corp. for the installation of more than 30 new portable air purifiers to be placed inside city-owned public buildings. The partnership was presented to the city by sustainability activist and longtime Forest Park resident Felicia Davis.
Using patented earth mineral technology, as well as high efficiency air filtration, the EnviroKlenz Air System Plus works to destroy airborne viruses and other contaminants, resulting in improvements to overall air quality. The equipment is manufactured in the U.S. and is currently being used by several other businesses in the metro Atlanta area, including Atlanta Public Schools, Georgia Tech and Wesley Academy.
"Public safety is always our number one concern, so having the ability to use innovative technology for improving air quality is a win-win opportunity for us all," said Forest Park City Manager Dr. Marc-Antonie Cooper, ICMA-CM. "Once ordered and delivered, the vendor will install these new systems in facilities that typically see heavy foot traffic, such as city hall, the police department, recreation center and our senior center."
Through its Clean Indoor Air Advocates Program, Timilon has established partnerships with other community agencies and nonprofits to help public spaces meet the objectives set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Air in Buildings Challenge. The EPA-led challenge offers a range of recommendations for improving indoor air quality, which can also help better protect the health of building occupants and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“It is imperative that we continue putting indoor air quality at the forefront of community safety efforts to continue combatting the risk of airborne virus and contaminant spread,” said Davis, who also serves as the managing director of the HBCU Green Fund. “The accessibility of indoor air quality improvements through this program allows easy implementation of indoor improvement and gives confidence to community members that they may safely assemble once again.”
