FOREST PARK, Ga. — June 16, 2023 — The City of Forest Park is seeking public input from residents and business owners on potential changes to its 2023 Comprehensive Plan Update. The plan, which is developed in partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission, is designed to help guide city leaders when making important decisions regarding transportation, housing, economic development, community goals and future land use.

State law requires the city to update its comprehensive plan every five years in order for the city to keep its qualified local government status. As part of the updating process, a steering committee comprised of key city officials and representatives from local businesses, neighborhood groups and nonprofits has been created to serve as an advisory panel that provides input on behalf of citizens.

The city will also host a public open house event to discuss the plan update on Wednesday, June 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Forest Park Senior Center, located at 5087 Park Ave. During the event, representatives from both the city and Atlanta Regional Commission will be onsite to discuss various topics and answer questions from attendees. There is NO COST to attend.

"Public participation is vital during this process, so it is imperative that we provide a forum that paves the way for both innovative ideas and constructive engagement," said Director of Planning & Community Development LaShawn Gardiner. "As our city continues to grow, we want to ensure that the plan reflects a consensus of values and priorities, as well as a long-term vision that prioritizes sustainability and economic growth.

Forest Park residents are encouraged to complete a brief survey related to plan. Responses to the survey will remain anonymous and be used as valuable feedback during the entire updating process. Individuals can access the online survey by visiting www.publicinput.com/forestparkplan#1.
