Temporary Closure Announced For Perkins Park

Perkins Park

FOREST PARK, Ga. — May 20, 2024 — City officials announced a temporary closure for Perkins Park, located at 5127 West St., beginning Monday, May 20, through Friday, June 21. During this time, crews will be shutting down the recreational area in order to make way for renovations and the resurfacing of the park's basketball court.

"Our residents deserve nothing less than first-class amenities that will encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle both mentally and physically," said Councilwoman Latresa Akins-Wells (Ward 4). "As someone who was raised in Forest Park, I know first hand how important it is to have access to high-quality parks. This is just one of the many steps we are taking to ensure we are able to offer safe, clean and accessible recreation areas for youth, adults, families, seniors and those who choose to visit our incredible community."

Prior to the upcoming scheduled renovations, signage will be installed to notify the general public of the temporary closure. If there is a need for the closure to be extended, another public notice will be issued. For more information, contact the city's Public Works Department at (404) 366-4720.
