City Hosting Annual Clayton County MLK Day Parade On Jan. 20
FOREST PARK, Ga. — Dec. 20, 2024 — The City of Forest Park is honored to announce that it has been selected to host the official Clayton County Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade for 2025. This highly anticipated community event will take place on Monday, January 20, at 12 p.m. This annual celebration pays tribute to Dr. King’s vision while promoting efforts to foster equality, justice and community spirit.
The following temporary road closures will be in effect on Monday, January 20, starting at 11:30 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade:
- Intersection of Main Street and Courtney Drive
- Intersection of Main Street and Phillips Drive
- Intersection of College Street and Finley Drive
- Intersection of Ash Street and Forest Parkway (south of the railroad crossing)
- Intersection of Main Street and Evans Drive
- Intersection of Main Street at North Lake Drive
- Intersection of Lake Drive and Forest Parkway (both directions)
- Intersection of Lake Drive at Bennett Alley
- Intersection of Lake Drive and Georgia Avenue
- Intersection of Lake Drive and Oak Street
- Intersection of Hines Ward Pass and Park Avenue (End of parade)
During this time, traffic lanes will be temporarily blocked off in order to make way for individuals participating in the parade, which will begin promptly at 12 p.m. from 1000 Main Street and conclude on Hines Ward Pass and Park Avenue. Event-related festivities will also take place at Starr Park during and after the parade.

The city looks forward to an incredible turnout, with participants joining us from all corners of the county and over five high school bands from Clayton and DeKalb counties bringing their energy and talent. While the weather might be a bit brisk, the warmth of community promises to make this event one of the most unforgettable and impactful MLK Day celebrations yet.
