Forest Park Public Works Department Launches Pothole Ranger Brigade
FOREST PARK, Ga. — April 21, 2025 — In response to residents' feedback and the need for increased roadway maintenance, the Forest Park Public Works Department is taking action by launching its comprehensive Pothole Ranger Brigade to accelerate street repairs and improve road safety across the city.
The new tactical unit, made up of specially trained employees from the Public Works Department and other regional transportation agencies, will focus solely on identifying and filling potholes on city streets through two main phases. Equipped with advanced patching equipment and operating in high-mobility units, city personnel plan to respond quickly to reported issues and proactively survey neighborhoods for road damage.
"Maintaining our roadways is about much more than just a matter of convenience. It is a matter of public safety, economic vitality and one of the main tenets of our ONE Forest Park initiative, which is neighborhood sustainability," said City Manager Ricky L. Clark, Jr. "Every pothole we repair not only improves our infrastructure, but also creates a stronger sense of community pride. We owe it to our residents to ensure the streets they use are safe, reliable and worthy of the beautiful city we proudly call home."
The Pothole Ranger Brigade will begin operations immediately, starting with high-traffic corridors and transitioning into residential zones over the coming weeks. Public notices will be issued by the city in the event of major traffic delays due to planned road work.
"The condition of our streets is a reflection of our commitment to the people who reside, do business and travel through Forest Park each and every day," said Public Works Director Alton Matthews. "With the launch of the Pothole Ranger Brigade, we are reaffirming our efforts to making all the necessary investments to our infrastructure, while also being accountable, responsive and above all, proactive."
