Severe Weather Preparedness Week: Starts February 1-5, 2021
Hello Residents,
This year, in conjunction with state and local public safety partners, NWS Peachtree City (along with the other 5 NWS offices that support Georgia counties) we will recognize the week of February 1-5, 2021 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week.
Each day will focus on a specific theme/topic related to severe weather, especially across this region. Also, we will help lead a severe weather (tornado) "drill" on Wednesday (Feb 3) at 9:00 AM EST. Please see below for more details on the week's topics:
Monday (Feb 1) -- Family Preparedness (including NOAA Weather Radio and Wireless Emergency Alerts)
Tuesday (Feb 2) -- Thunderstorm Safety (Hail and Damaging Wind Threats & Impacts)
Wednesday (Feb 3) -- Tornado Safety ** we will conduct an NWR Test Warning Message at 9 AM ** // the message will go out as a Routine Weekly Test (RWT) product via NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) and is designed to help trigger statewide schools, businesses, and other groups to practice their severe weather/tornado safety actions and procedures.
Thursday (Feb 4) -- Lightning Safety
Friday (Feb 5) -- Flash Flooding & Flood Safety
For additional information will also be posted via our social media outlets (Facebook - NWS Peachtree City / Atlanta and Twitter - @NWSAtlanta).
